Kaleidoscope of Inquiry
I’ve been hanging onto this special event for some time now and am so very excited to finally be able to share more about a unique event that’s occurring next spring!
It’s a weekend full of voices centered around learning more about the moves and mindsets we take on to nurture inquiry within ourselves, learners and schools. I’m so very grateful to be part of this amazing collection of speakers and I do hope to see you there!
The Kaleidoscope of Inquiry Conference brings together a group of globally renowned educators who, over 1.5 days, will invite participants to take a deep dive into the transformative potential of inquiry-based practices in classrooms, staff rooms and communities at large. Our presenters reflect a diverse range of experiences from teaching preschool through to senior secondary schools and universities. They have worked around the world in a range of settings and bring unique perspectives on the ways in which inquiry can be harnessed for powerful learning. While each presenter has expertise in the field of inquiry learning, this will be the first time they have come together to create such a special professional learning experience!
Agenda can be found here.
Here’s what I’ll be bringing to the table that weekend:
SESSION 1: DISPOSITIONS OF AN INQUIRY LEADER: BUILDING OUR CAPACITIES AS INQUIRY LEADERS
Inquiry is teaching practice that is used as a framework for learning in our classrooms, but what happens when leaders use this philosophy as a mindset to lead & inspire their teachers? In this session, we’ll explore the seven dispositions of an inquiry leader, identifying how these attributes empower all learners. By identifying the why and how behind these essential dispositions, we’ll interrogate where these are already within our practice and how we can refine those that aren’t quite so visible. At the end of this session, you’ll walk away with a clearer picture of who you are as a leader and a tangible guide for next steps that honor your own professional practice as well as those you serve.
SESSION 2: NURTURING AND CULTIVATING CULTURES OF CURIOSITY: IDENTIFYING ROOT CAUSES & OPPORTUNITIES AS INQUIRY LEADERS
It’s easy to get lost with our portfolios and our “duties as assigned”. Consider this session as your launching point to truly determine where it is that your efforts and actions need to be focused, including the “who” and “how” we can get there as a collaborative school community. We’ll balance our mindsets and roles as inquiry and managerial leaders, engaging in an inquiry process that asks you to gather tangible evidence and data to help you plan your next steps. By comparing systems and reflecting on the cultures that we are trying to cultivate, let's hone in on the “stones” we cast that, in turn, have the ripple effect we intend. During this session, leaders will engage in school vision work, goal setting and specific action steps moving forward. This session is followed up with a check in session to assess the impact our work has on your learners and co constructing next steps for change and action.
